Been doing LOTS of thinking on labels… it’s been a hard one to work through. To come up with a mini, coherent(ish) blurb that speaks my POV. This is big deal stuff; it’s how we communicate, they are the lens we think through to make our oh-so-important actions in the world. They define our everything by authenticating this person we carry around and call self.
Some friendly, languid afternoon phone calls left me with some conflicting thoughts around what we truly believe as ourselves vs. how we want others to view us. Why does status have to get wrapped up into all this?! How important it is for us to assume a role that: 1.) pleases others and/or 2.) makes others feel envious of us. 3.). Why is desire the last on this short list?
What does your business card for life look and feel like? Is it thick and textured? Colorful? Does it list an impossibly long and impressive title? Does it say something that no one can decipher but you? Will it say the same thing tomorrow as it did today? How many should you order before you decide to redefine yourself?
