imbalance

I watched two city blocks of protesters peacefully march in front of my house last night. They were followed by 30+ police vehicles. I lost count after I hit 31 and there was still a block or two more of flashing lights up the street. The scale seems weighted.

Many have known this for a long time, but we’re watching the fulcrum crumble. It can’t operate under such imbalance. This scale can no longer pretend to represent justice. We’ve seen this pillar weaken before, but rather than allowing another hack job to scaffold an UNDER CONSTRUCTION sign to dangle from it’s precarious perch, why don’t we build a new scale?

Building a new one cannot be harder than destroying the lives of humans. I know for certain this is truth as it braces my currently unstable soul.

In my world, the one I plan to live in, I want to build a scale of justice from our bones – ALL OUR BONES – and cement it with the tears of our frustration, fear, love and hope. The boundaries will blur and be the stability for our listening ears and communing tongues. We will trust one another because we will see you as me, us as them, and ours as theirs. Our universality will be celebrated and praised on a scale that represents out collective existence. Listen to those voices and you can hear the universal desire of life, too.
